Robust Distributed Source Coding with Arbitrary Number of Encoders and Practical Code Design Technique

The robustness property can be added to DSC system at the expense of reducing performance, i.e., increasing the sum-rate. The aim of designing robust DSC schemes is to trade off between system robustness and compression efficiency. In this paper, after deriving an inner bound on the rate–distortion region for the quadratic Gaussian MDC based RDSC system with two encoders, the structure of...

Supermembranes with Fewer Supersymmetries

The usual supermembrane solution ofD = 11 supergravity interpolates between R11 and AdS4× round S7, has symmetry P3×SO(8) and preserves 1/2 of the spacetime supersymmetries for either orientation of the round S7. Here we show that more general supermembrane solutions may be obtained by replacing the round S7 by any seven-dimensional Einstein space M7. These have symmetry P3 × G, where G is the ...

On the number of gapped repeats with arbitrary gap

For any functions f(x), g(x) from N to R we call repeats uvu such that g(|u|) ≤ |v| ≤ f(|u|) as f, g-gapped repeats. We study the possible number of f, g-gapped repeats in words of fixed length n. For quite weak conditions on f(x), g(x) we obtain an upper bound on this number which is linear to n.

Multivariate Polynomials with Arbitrary Number of Variables

The goal of this article is to define multivariate polynomials in arbitrary number of indeterminates and then to prove that they constitute a ring (over appropriate structure of coefficients). The introductory section includes quite a number of auxiliary lemmas related to many different parts of the MML. The second section characterizes the sequence flattening operation, introduced in [7], but ...
